Andrew Kellner Johnston of Comox BC - 93 years - November 15th 1919
– January 28th 2013
Andrew was predeceased by his beloved wife Norah in 2010, also his
son Ian, his brother Michael & his sister Betty.
Andrew grew up in Duncan BC & attended Shawnigan Lake
Boys School where he excelled at sports & was captain of the rugby team.
After the war he studied architecture at UBC. He eventually became a partner at
Duncan & McNabb & Associates in Vancouver.
He married Norah Bell-Irving in 1947 & he & his
father built their first house in West Vancouver. He ended up designing &
building 3 homes the family lived in. The final one was on Denman Island.
Andrew & Norah loved to camp & took their 5
children all over BC camping & even to Disneyland. In later life they traveled to Hawaii, Mexico & Europe.
He was a kind & gentle man, a man ahead of his time.
He supported Norah in all she did & helped make it possible to follow her
career in dance. He set a great example for his sons in their marriages.
He & Norah were long time members of the Unitarian
Church. They also were members of several dance clubs & it was wonderful to
watch them dance together.
He will be missed by his loving children; Tandra (David),
Graeme (Edina), Guy (Michelle), & Brian (Kathy) He was much loved by his
grandchildren; Jessica, Jude, Teresa, Emily, Ryan, Emily, Spenser, Emerson,
Steeles, Sebastian & Rosalee.
He found great joy in the last two years in his great
granddaughter Ainsley.
Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Glacier View
Lodge for their loving care.
